NAMDIA has clarified that the recent suspension of several top executives was a procedural move to facilitate an internal investigation, rather than a response to any formal charges.
The executives currently on suspension include Chief Executive Officer Alisa Amupolo, Chief Operations Officer Uahoroka Kauta, and Security Manager Paulinus Sheyapo.
According to spokesperson Beverly Coussement, the decision was made to uphold transparency and safeguard the credibility of the investigation. “The suspensions are a precautionary measure to allow for an internal review while maintaining the integrity and independence of the process,” she stated.
However, NAMDIA has yet to disclose the specific details of the investigation or provide a timeline for its completion. In its last statement, the company promised to hold a media briefing to update the public on the matter.
Public frustration has been growing over NAMDIA’s delayed response, particularly regarding details of the theft, including the value of the stolen diamonds and any suspects involved. Activist and NEFF leader Michael Amushelelo recently visited NAMDIA’s offices, demanding answers on why the company has been slow to inform the nation.
While the suspensions do not indicate any wrongdoing at this stage, NAMDIA’s move comes amid increasing public scrutiny following a diamond heist at its headquarters in January.
