NAMDIA Under Fresh Scrutiny Amid Governance, Security Scandal

Namibia Desert Diamonds (NAMDIA) is once again at the center of controversy following fresh allegations of serious governance failures and security breaches. This comes months after a deadly robbery at NAMDIA’s offices earlier this year, during which two people were killed. That incident led to the arrest of more than seven suspects, many of whom were linked to prominent Namibian circles.

Now, AR President and political leader Job Amupanda has raised alarming new claims involving NAMDIA’s internal operations. In a statement released on social media, Amupanda alleged that his investigative team, known as Eagle 25, has uncovered further troubling details during a recent fact-finding mission to Angola.

According to Amupanda, the Eagle 25 team’s Angola Report revealed that NAMDIA’s security system had an alarm function linked to an Angolan company called NELDAN. He further claimed that a so-called “security consultant” was brought into NAMDIA without any formal qualifications, job description, or adherence to procurement procedures. Even more concerning, Amupanda alleged that this consultant’s son was the one who installed the security system at NAMDIA.

“These are serious matters that the public has a right to know about,” Amupanda stated. “Our team has completed the Angola Report, and we are now in the process of verifying the findings.”

Amupanda publicly called on NAMDIA’s board and management to immediately update the nation about these issues, warning that silence and evasion will not be tolerated this time.

“Please understand that we are not the same people you have been used to ignoring or misleading through silence. We expect full cooperation as we move to resolve this matter in good faith. Otherwise, you must know by now that water can pass through the nose very quickly,” Amupanda warned in his statement.

The new revelations have stirred fresh public debate and placed renewed pressure on NAMDIA’s leadership, which was already facing questions following the robbery earlier this year.

As of now, NAMDIA has yet to issue an official statement in response to these latest allegations.
