Windhoek, Namibia – Popular Zambian artist Elton Mulenga, known by his stage name Yo Maps, was arrested by Namibian immigration officials on Saturday night for performing without a valid work visa. The multi-award-winning artist was taken into custody while on stage, along with his manager, during a concert in Windhoek.
Yo Maps, whose music has garnered a significant following across Southern Africa, was in the middle of his performance when officials intervened. One fan commented, “Free our boy! This should be the organizers’ fault for not advising him about the laws of your country.”
