Windhoek, Namibia – Popular Zambian artist Elton Mulenga, known by his stage name Yo Maps, was arrested by Namibian immigration officials on Saturday night for performing without a valid work visa. The multi-award-winning artist was taken into custody while on stage, along with his manager, during a concert in Windhoek.

Yo Maps, whose music has garnered a significant following across Southern Africa, was in the middle of his performance when officials intervened. The arrest has sparked a wave of reactions from fans and the public. Many supporters have taken to social media to express their displeasure and call for his release.

One fan commented, “Free our boy! This should be the organizers’ fault for not advising him about the laws of your country.”
Another user pointed fingers at the event organizer, saying, “Police should consult Paul da Prince…. He is the organizer of that event.”
Yo Maps and his manager are expected to appear before a Windhoek magistrate on Tuesday to face charges related to the violation of immigration laws. The incident has raised questions about the responsibilities of event organizers in ensuring compliance with local regulations for international artists.
