The Namibia Media Professionals’ Union (NAMPU) has strongly criticized the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) for suspending senior editor and journalist Anna Nicodemus. The suspension followed her interview with Newzroom Africa. NAMPU Acting Secretary General, Jemima Beukes, described the decision as an attack on Nicodemus’ rights as a journalist and a significant setback to the principles of free expression that underpin democracy.
The Affirmative Repositioning (AR) movement also denounced the suspension, highlighting that it occurred without a disciplinary hearing. AR labeled the decision as a troubling move toward censorship and a direct assault on free speech in Namibia.

In a related development, political analyst Ndumba Kamwanyah announced on Facebook that he will no longer participate in interviews with the NBC. This decision was in protest of Nicodemus’ suspension, which Kamwanyah described as deeply concerning.
The NBC has yet to release a statement regarding the suspension.
