Miss Earth Namibia 2025, Ndeshipewa Angula, has revealed her national costume inspired by the Kavango people, with a special tribute to the rich culture of the Mbunza community. The international finale of the pageant will take place on 5 November 2025 at the Okada Manila resort in Parañaque, Metro Manila, Philippines.
The costume celebrates the Mbunza people’s deep connection to nature and their renowned skills in transforming natural materials into meaningful cultural attire. It reflects their identity, heritage, and sustainable way of life passed down through generations.
A handcrafted traditional headdress sits at the centre of the outfit, made from natural fibers and accented in earthy tones. It symbolizes pride, womanhood, and cultural belonging, echoing the elegant headpieces worn by Mbunza women during important cultural moments.
The ensemble also features traditionally prepared animal skins, representing ceremonial garments that highlight the community’s resourcefulness and respect for every natural element. Each piece carries cultural significance and reflects a deep understanding of the land.
Completing the attire is a beautifully woven reed skirt, created from dried reeds gathered near the Okavango River. Its graceful movement captures the rhythm of daily life along the riverbanks, where the community’s traditions and environment are closely intertwined.
More than a fashion statement, this costume stands as a tribute to Namibia’s indigenous heritage. Through it, Angula brings global recognition to the Mbunza people’s artistic legacy and their timeless message of living in harmony with nature.
