A Namibian Defence Force (NDF) member was arrested at the Okahandja shopping mall over the weekend after being caught allegedly selling cannabis.
Otjozondjupa Police spokesperson, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, confirmed the incident, saying officers acted on a tip-off about illegal drug dealings taking place at the mall on Sunday.
When police arrived at the scene, they reportedly found a 30-year-old male soldier in possession of cannabis weighing 960 grams, valued at about N$48,000. The suspect was immediately taken into custody.
Senior Inspector Mbeha said the man is expected to appear in the Okahandja Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of dealing in cannabis, in violation of Section 2(a) of Act 41 of 1971.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
