TotalEnergies Khomasdal Workers Down Tools Over Unpaid Salaries

Operations at the TotalEnergies filling station in Windhoek’s Khomasdal area came to a standstill on Wednesday afternoon after employees embarked on a strike over unpaid salaries.
The disgruntled workers including fuel attendants, cashiers, cooks, and security personnel say they have not received their salaries for the month and accuse the business owner of failing to honour payment promises.
One of the employees, Awino Naftali, said the group decided to stop working after repeated assurances from management were not met.
“We were told we would be paid earlier this week, but nothing has happened. We are tired of empty promises. We will only return to work once our salaries are paid,” Naftali said.
The workers have vowed to continue the strike until their wages are settled, adding that the delay has caused financial strain for many of them who depend solely on their monthly income.
Efforts to reach the management of the filling station for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
The labour dispute has left many motorists stranded, as fuel services at the station remain halted while the standoff continues.
