NHE to Provide Housing Worth Over N$1.6 Million Annually in Groundbreaking Miss Namibia Partnership

NHE to Provide Housing Worth Over N$1.6 Million – The Updated World

The National Housing Enterprise (NHE) has committed to sponsoring a fully built house worth N$750,000 each year for the Miss Namibia titleholder from 2025 to 2028. This landmark agreement forms part of a broader initiative aimed at elevating the Miss Namibia pageant into a premier platform for young women’s empowerment in the country.

The three-year collaboration, running from 1 June 2025 to 1 June 2028, aligns the objectives of the Miss Namibia Organisation, the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), and NHE’s mission to deliver affordable housing solutions to Namibians.

Under the terms of the partnership, NHE will sponsor two turnkey housing units each year. One will be awarded to the reigning Miss Namibia, while the other—valued at N\$900,000—will be the grand prize in NBC’s “Win a House” television game show. This marks the first time in the pageant’s history that a permanent residence is part of the winner’s prize package.

The agreement was officially announced at a prize launch event on Monday, attended by officials from the Miss Namibia Organisation, NBC, NHE, and other key sponsors.

Speaking at the event, NHE CEO Gisbertus Mukulu described the initiative as a bold step toward addressing the country’s persistent housing challenges.

“Access to affordable housing remains a pressing issue in Namibia. As NHE, we must continue to implement practical, impactful solutions. Our recent projects include the handover of 64 houses in Ondangwa and 30 units in Omuthiya, with 52 nearing completion in Okakarara and another 34 in Mariental. In Katima Mulilo, we’ve started land servicing for 546 homes, while 172 houses are underway in Nkurenkuru,” Mukulu stated.

Miss Namibia Organisation CEO Umbi Karuaihe-Upi hailed the move as transformative for the pageant and for young women across the country.

“For the first time, our national queens will receive homes as part of their prize—an empowering gesture that symbolizes both stability and the recognition of their national role,” she said.

NBC Board Chairperson Lazarus Jacobs praised the collaboration, calling it a model for how public institutions can jointly contribute to national progress.

“This partnership signifies a new era of cooperation, merging the goals of broadcasting, youth empowerment, and housing development. It’s a forward-thinking initiative that sets a new benchmark for smart, multi-sector partnerships. NBC is proud to be part of this trailblazing effort,” Jacobs said.
