Education Executive Director Sanet Steenkamp announced this afternoon that all schools, both public and private, will be closed on Friday. This is to allow learners and teachers to attend the memorial service of Namibia’s Founding President, Dr. Sam Nujoma, at the Independence Stadium.

Dr. Nujoma passed away on February 8, 2025, in Windhoek at the age of 95 after spending three weeks in the capital.
His remains were taken to different regions, where state memorial services were held in his honor.
He will be laid to rest at Heroes’ Acre on Saturday.
