Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has undergone a significant medical ordeal, culminating in the amputation of one of his legs. The actor, who had been critically ill, previously sought financial support from Nigerians to aid in his treatment.

In a statement released by his family on Monday, it was disclosed that Mr Ibu had undergone a series of seven surgeries. The decision to amputate one of his legs was made as a last resort to save his life. The family expressed their gratitude to Nigerians for their unwavering support during this challenging period.
The family’s statement read, “As of 1 pm today, Daddy has gone through seven successful surgeries. However, to keep him alive and increase his chances of recovery, one of his legs had to be amputated. This development has been hard on us all, but we’ve had to accept it as Daddy’s new reality to keep him alive.”

The statement also emphasized the ongoing need for support, stating, “Please, we are still soliciting for support from well-meaning Nigerians, as this stage Daddy is still in a very delicate one, and he needs all the help he can get. Thank you, everyone, the Okafor family is grateful, and we don’t take you for granted. In due time, Daddy will personally acknowledge everyone who supported during this period as soon as he’s stable.”
The news of Mr Ibu’s health struggles has garnered significant attention and support from fans, well-wishers, and the entertainment industry. His family’s request for continued financial assistance highlights the importance of community support during difficult times, and Nigerians have rallied together to aid the actor in his journey to recovery.
