A NORED worker lost his life this afternoon after being electrocuted while on duty at Insu village in the Kavango West region.
Reports indicate that he had been sent to the village to fix an electrical fault when the tragic accident occurred.
This is the fourth death caused by electrocution in the region in less than two months.
Police spokesperson Raimbert Muronga said more details will be shared after the investigation is finished.
Village headman Phillip Namwira told Eagle FM that he became concerned after noticing the worker was not moving. He then informed a colleague who was waiting nearby.
“I told his colleague that something was wrong. When he approached, he realized that the worker had been electrocuted and was in shock,” Namwira stated.
With help from the villagers, they managed to lower the victim from the pole and took him to Insu clinic. Sadly, doctors confirmed that he had already passed away.
Police officers are now at the scene, conducting an investigation into the incident.
