Ondangwa Man Caught Selling Stolen Police Uniforms

A young man from Ondangwa was arrested earlier this week for trying to sell stolen police uniforms. The 24-year-old suspect, identified as Petrus Absalom, was caught during a police operation after an informer helped set up a fake deal.

Police say the uniforms were stolen about two months ago from a house in Ondangwa. The items included police shoes, socks, shirts, trousers, a cap, a belt, a reflector jacket with a traffic badge, a jersey, shorts, and camouflage clothing. All the stolen gear belonged to a traffic officer working in the area.

Deputy Commissioner Fredrik Ndjadila explained that someone tipped off the police after the suspect tried to find buyers. The tipster pretended to be interested, met the suspect, and later informed the police. This led to a sting operation where the suspect was found with a backpack full of police clothing. More items were recovered after the arrest.

The suspect appeared in court on Tuesday and was denied bail. His case has been postponed to 4 August 2025.

Police are still looking for another person believed to be involved.

Ndjadila reminded the public that it is illegal to wear police uniforms unless officially allowed. He warned that people who pretend to be police officers can use the uniform to commit crimes. He also asked families to return any uniforms if a police officer relative passes away.
