A brief confrontation at a Miss Universe event in Thailand has drawn international attention after Miss Universe Mexico 2025, Fátima Bosch, was publicly addressed by a pageant official and reportedly called “dumb” during a pre-event programme.
The exchange occurred when Bosch attempted to speak and was interrupted by one of the organisers, who accused her of not promoting the host nation sufficiently on her social media platforms. Security personnel briefly approached, and the moment caused visible discomfort among contestants and attendees.
Bosch later stated that she supports respectful dialogue and believes pageant participants should be able to express themselves while fulfilling event duties. She stressed that modern beauty queens represent confidence, leadership, and empowerment.
Following public debate, the Miss Universe Thailand organisation issued a statement affirming its commitment to respect, fairness, and professionalism for all contestants, noting that the pageant values each delegate’s contribution and presence on the global stage.
Nawat Itsaragrisil, the organiser involved in the incident, also issued a public apology, acknowledging that emotions escalated and expressing regret for the wording used. He stated that the intention was to remind contestants of promotional obligations, not to cause humiliation.
The Miss Mexico organisation welcomed the apology and reiterated the importance of dignity and mutual respect in international competition environments. Bosch remains in the competition and continues to participate in official Miss Universe activities.
