The Oshakati business community is mourning the death of one of its most influential figures, Johannes Shivute Shithigona, widely known as Shilemba. The 76-year-old entrepreneur died recently at a private hospital in Ongwediva following a brief illness.
Shithigona built a strong business legacy over several decades, establishing enterprises that became household names in northern Namibia. His ventures included the Oshilemba Complex, home to multiple SME businesses, as well as Oshilemba Super Market, Oshilemba Transport, and the popular Oshilemba Funky Town in Oshakati.
Colleagues and residents remember him not only as a determined businessman but also as a community figure whose work provided jobs and supported local economic growth.
