The incident occurred on Monday in one of the nearby villages, where the suspect had reportedly been drinking with others before an argument broke out. According to police reports, the man left the drinking spot in anger, got into his vehicle, and began chasing people around the area.
At the time, a woman carrying her young child on her back was passing by. Witnesses say the woman attempted to flee from the vehicle, during which the child slipped from her back. The suspect is alleged to have then driven over the child, who was lying on the ground.
The child sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after the incident. Police have opened a case of murder, and the suspect is now in custody.
Authorities have described the event as a senseless act of violence and confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
