
Police in the Grootfontein District have arrested a woman and a man after discovering a garden containing both maize and cannabis plants valued at more than N$158,000.
The discovery was made early Saturday morning at Otjitaazu village in the Otjituuo area, during an intelligence-led operation involving officers from the Otjituuo Police Station, the Scene of Crime Unit, and the Drug Law Enforcement Unit from Grootfontein.
According to Otjozondjupa Regional Commander, Commissioner Philip Hidengwa, the police acted on information received from concerned community members.

During the search, officers confiscated 90 fresh cannabis plants, 534 grams of loose cannabis, and 15,310 grams of dried cannabis plants.
A 33-year-old woman, who was found at the scene with her ten-month-old baby, was arrested immediately. A 37-year-old man was later taken into custody in connection with the case.
Both suspects are expected to appear before the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday, while police investigations continue.
