
Police in Lüderitz are investigating a burglary at the Desert Delhi restaurant where suspects made off with more than N$40,000 in local and foreign currency.
The incident took place in the early hours of Friday, 26 September 2025, between midnight and 00h45. According to police reports, two masked suspects allegedly forced their way into the restaurant by breaking open a rear window with an unidentified object.
Once inside, the burglars reportedly stole a safe and a blue money box from the manager’s office. They also entered another office, where they collected additional cash in Namibian dollars, US dollars, and Euros.
The total amount stolen is estimated at N$40,340. At this stage, no recoveries have been made, and no arrests have been carried out.
Police say investigations into the burglary are ongoing.
