A 36-year-old man has been arrested following the fatal stabbing of his 44-year-old girlfriend in the early hours of Monday morning at Okasheshete Village in the Onesi Constituency.
Omusati Regional Commander, Commissioner Ismael Basson, confirmed the arrest and said the incident occurred around 04:30.
“The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim to death with an unknown object,” Basson said.
Initial reports suggested the suspect had fled the scene, prompting a police manhunt. However, Commissioner Basson later confirmed that the man was apprehended at his home in the same village.
The deceased has been identified as the suspect’s girlfriend, and the motive for the attack remains under investigation.
A case of murder has been registered, read with the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act.
