A police officer is fighting for his life after being attacked and stabbed by inmates inside the Rundu Police Station holding cells on Thursday afternoon.
According to initial reports, the officer sustained a serious perforating wound after the inmates turned violent and assaulted him during an incident whose cause is yet to be determined.
He was rushed to the Rundu State Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack, including how the inmates managed to stab the officer while in custody.
