Namibia is set to take the global stage this week as President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah travels to New York to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Her program includes a combination of high-level debates, bilateral meetings, and events designed to promote Namibia’s economic and cultural profile.

Press Secretary Jonas Mbambo confirmed on Thursday that the President will deliver her first-ever address to the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, 24 September 2025. Ahead of that landmark speech, she will engage in discussions on pressing international priorities, including women’s empowerment, sustainable development, climate action, youth, peace and security, global economic reform, and nuclear disarmament.

On the sidelines of the Assembly, President Nandi-Ndaitwah is also expected to hold bilateral talks with fellow world leaders. These discussions will focus on strengthening partnerships and advancing Namibia’s role in international diplomacy.

To complement her political engagements, the President will attend events aimed at boosting Namibia’s image as a hub for investment, trade, and tourism. A highlight of the program is the flagship “Experience Namibia in New York” showcase, hosted by the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB). In addition, she will join a roundtable discussion with global business leaders, organized in partnership with the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU).

Nandi-Ndaitwah’s participation in the 80th UNGA is expected to underline Namibia’s commitment to multilateralism while also promoting opportunities that position the country on the international stage.
