President Nandi-Ndaitwah Urges Uvhungu Vhungu Revival to Boost Food Security and Jobs

Efforts to revive idle agricultural projects and boost food security are gaining momentum, with renewed focus on the Uvhungu Vhungu Green Scheme in Kavango East. Once abandoned for years, the project is now being restored to full operation following recommendations by Prime Minister Dr. Ngurare during his recent visit.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who toured the scheme today, expressed satisfaction with the progress made. She commended the involvement of 200 unemployed youths currently engaged in de-bushing activities at the dairy farm, describing it as a practical step toward job creation and skills development.

Highlighting her administration’s commitment, President Nandi-Ndaitwah reiterated that the 8th Administration aims to unlock the potential of agriculture and position Namibia’s green schemes as models of sustainable food production and economic empowerment.

The Uvhungu Vhungu project, which hosts small-scale farming plots alongside its dairy operation, is seen as a crucial driver in strengthening food security while offering employment opportunities in the region.
