President Nangolo Mbumba has extended his congratulations to Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress, following his victory in the December 7th general elections.

Mahama secured 56.3% of the votes, defeating the New Patriotic Party’s Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, who garnered 41.3%.

John Dramani Mahama previously served as Ghana’s President from 2012 to 2017.

In his statement, President Mbumba praised the election as a reflection of Ghana’s dedication to democracy and the rule of law. “This historic election underscores the Ghanaian people’s unwavering commitment to democratic principles. The election of H.E. Mahama demonstrates the trust Ghanaians have in his leadership and his commitment to advancing the nation’s development,” he said.

Highlighting the strong ties between Namibia and Ghana, President Mbumba emphasized the historical bond rooted in Namibia’s struggle for independence and the growth of bilateral relations since then. “I look forward to working closely with President-elect Mahama to further enhance our collaboration for the mutual benefit of our nations,” he added.
