President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on regional governors to take full responsibility for the development and service delivery in their respective regions. She emphasized that she does not want to hear public complaints about a lack of services while officials fail to act. She further stressed that there will be no business as usual, urging leaders to prioritize efficiency and accountability.

As part of her commitment to improving governance, President Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed seven regional governors as follows:

Verna Sinimbo governor of Kavango West
  • Khomas Region – Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma, City of Windhoek Councilor.
  • Kunene Region – Vipuakuje Muharukua, a former Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) parliamentarian who has since joined SWAPO. Muharukua, elected to Parliament in 2014 at the age of 31, was the second-youngest MP in Namibia after McHenry Venaani in 2002.
  • Oshikoto Region – Sacky Kathindi.
  • Kavango West Region – Verna Sinimbo, former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industrialisation.
  • Kavango East Region – Hamunyera Hambyuka, SWAPO Chief Whip in the National Assembly since 2015.
  • Hardap Region – Riaan Charles McNab.
  • Otjozondjupa Region – John Julius //Khmuseb.

The President’s directive signals a firm stance on improving governance, ensuring that every region meets the needs of its citizens. Service delivery and accountability remain a top priority under her administration.
