A young man has died following a violent assault in the early hours of Saturday morning in Block E, Rehoboth.
According to the Namibian Police, the incident occurred around 02h00 when the victim and a friend were walking together and were approached by two unknown men who began harassing them. A scuffle broke out, during which the victim was struck multiple times with what appeared to be a knobkerrie-like object, hitting him on the body and forehead.
Injured and overwhelmed, the two friends fled the scene. The victim reportedly returned to his friend’s house later that night complaining of intense head pain and requested painkillers. He was given tablets and allowed to rest in the friend’s room.
Tragically, the next morning, the friend discovered the victim unresponsive with fluid coming from his nose. Emergency services were contacted, and the man was declared dead upon their arrival.
At this stage, no suspects have been arrested. Police have launched a full investigation, and a post-mortem will be conducted to confirm the exact cause of death.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or the assailants to come forward to assist with the investigation.
