The Rössing Uranium Mine has donated a 55-seater bus worth N$1.5 million to the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) in the Erongo Region to improve patient transportation to referral hospitals.
The new bus will primarily be used to transfer patients from health facilities across the region to larger hospitals for specialized medical care.
Speaking at the handover event, representatives from Rössing Uranium said the donation forms part of the company’s commitment to supporting community health and improving access to essential medical services.
The Erongo Regional Health Directorate expressed appreciation for the donation, noting that the new vehicle will ease logistical challenges and enhance the quality of patient care.
Health officials highlighted that patient transfers often faced delays due to limited transport resources, and the arrival of the 55-seater bus will significantly improve efficiency in the region’s health referral system.
Rössing Uranium has over the years supported several community initiatives in health, education, and infrastructure as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts.
