Rundu businessman and founder of the Ngato Institute of Science and Technology, John Fernando, has pledged to cover the costs of DNA testing for a 53-year-old woman, Elizabeth Filinga, and a young man who may be her long-lost son. Filinga, from Mile 20 Village in Kavango West, has been seeking financial assistance to confirm the young man’s identity.
Her son disappeared in April 2010 when he was just five years old. He and his twin sister were herding cattle in the Mile 20 area when they both went missing. While his sister was found days later, the young boy remained missing for years, leaving his mother in distress and uncertainty.
Fernando, moved by Filinga’s story after reading about it on social media, expressed his desire to facilitate their reunion, emphasizing that every mother deserves to be with her child.
This act of generosity highlights the importance of community support in addressing sensitive family matters and underscores the potential for positive outcomes when individuals come together to assist those in need.
