Tensions are rising in Omega Three, Kongola constituency, after parents from the San community vowed not to send their children to school until their demands for fair employment are met.
The dispute centres on the newly built Ndoro Memorial School hostel, which has remained unopened since the start of the school term two weeks ago. The community alleges that despite 12 staff vacancies being advertised, not a single San applicant was shortlisted or hired.

Community spokesperson and activist Dennis Munyingwa expressed frustration, saying the San people face extreme unemployment, yet are continually sidelined when job opportunities arise. “This is our community, but when chances come, we are the last to benefit,” he said.
In response, school principal Linus Sipopo said the recruitment process is beyond his authority and is being handled by the regional education directorate. The directorate, he added, is aware of the situation and is addressing the matter.
For now, the hostel’s doors remain closed, and so do the classrooms for many San learners.
