Authorities in the Erongo Region have launched a search operation following a mysterious incident on the beach near the Jetty and Aquarium area on Saturday night.

According to a report from the Erongo police, an unidentified man was seen walking along the shoreline shortly before he was reportedly observed entering the ocean around 20:00 on 03 May. Emergency responders were immediately dispatched to the scene after the alert was raised.

Senior Inspector Judith Shomongula confirmed that the search for the man is still underway. “Our assumptions should remain that he is still alive until any further discovery,” she emphasized, urging the public to avoid speculation as the investigation continues.

The man’s identity remains unknown, but he was last seen wearing a red t-shirt, blue trousers, and a grey cap. A pair of black sunglasses believed to belong to him were found left on the ground nearby.

Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance. Anyone who may be missing a relative or has relevant information is urged to contact Detective Chief Inspector Dino Skrywer at 081 422 3210, Detective Warrant Officer Epson Ronnie Gariseb at 081 203 1808, or report to the nearest police station.

The situation remains under close observation as emergency teams continue their efforts.
