Oshakati, Oshana Region – The Second Chance Foundation, known as Secondchancefoundationnam, has provided a sponsorship of N$2,500 to Cross-Calvary Niilenge, an ex-convict and local barbershop owner. The sponsorship, aimed at helping Niilenge revamp his business, was presented on Saturday during a small ceremony in Oshakati.

Peneyambeko Jonas, founder of the Second Chance Foundation, highlighted that this contribution is part of the organisation’s broader mission to support former inmates as they reintegrate into society. The foundation actively works to provide ex-convicts with opportunities to rebuild their lives through entrepreneurial ventures and employment support.
Speaking to Eagle FM, Jonas explained the challenges ex-convicts face after leaving prison, including struggles with mental health and unemployment. “In most cases, ex-convicts are battling with mental health, unemployment issues, and they don’t know how to begin with their new life. As the foundation, our role is to keep them busy and get them connected to business opportunities out there,” Jonas said.
The sponsorship is expected to boost Niilenge’s barbershop business, serving as a stepping stone for his continued success and personal growth.
