Two boys, aged 8 and 13 and who are siblings, were caught by the police after stealing a vehicle. The Namibian police reported that the incident occurred on the night of Friday, April 21, 2023, at Farm Kaliombo in the Karibib district. The suspects allegedly entered the farm and took a white Toyota Fortuner vehicle, valued at N$180,000, which was parked with the key in the ignition.

The boys reportedly left for school on Friday morning in their school uniforms and changed into casual wear after school, which they had worn underneath their school uniforms. They then diverted their route and hitchhiked to the farm, where they spent the day at a neighboring farm. They only arrived at Farm Kaliombo at night, where they stole the vehicle and drove it to Karibib. The father of the two boys worked at the farm where the vehicle was stolen, while the boys lived with their mother in Karibib.

The suspects spent the night at a roadblock site and were only seen driving the stolen vehicle around town during the day. Members of the public noticed their behavior and reported them to the police. The vehicle was recovered, but the front bumper was damaged.

The 13-year-old suspect was charged and released under parental care, while the 8-year-old co-suspect has not been charged yet. Police investigation is still ongoing, and advice from social workers will be taken into consideration before deciding on further actions.
