Six Arrested for Drug Dealing in Police Crackdown


The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) has arrested six individuals in connection with drug-related offenses during operations conducted between Thursday and Saturday.

According to a weekend crime report issued by NamPol spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi, the first arrests took place on Thursday at around 11:50 along the B1 road near Mariental. Three men, aged 27, 32, and 37, were found in possession of loose cannabis skunk weighing 270 grams, with an estimated street value of N$9,450.

In a separate incident on the same day, a 28-year-old man was detained on the Grunau-Keetmanshoop road after police discovered five parcels of suspected cannabis in his possession. Shikwambi stated that the suspect was traveling from Noordoewer to Keetmanshoop when he was intercepted. The seized cannabis weighed approximately 5,090 grams and had an estimated value of N$254,500. The suspect is set to appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Another arrest was made in the Kavango West Region on Thursday at around 17:00. A 30-year-old Angolan national was caught at Shackdweller location with one parcel of cannabis weighing 85.24 grams, valued at N$852.40.

On Saturday, authorities apprehended a 20-year-old man in Rehoboth around 09:10 during a police operation. He was found with four full mandrax tablets and two half mandrax tablets, valued at N$600.

NamPol continues its efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the country, urging the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal substances.
