Max Endjala

The Namibian Police have revealed the name of the robbery who allegedly shot himself in the head during the heist as Max Endjala. Max was positively identified through fingerprint analysis. He succumbed to his injuries at a Windhoek hospital.

Max Endjala was a well-known figure in Namibian sports, having represented the country in squash for over 16 years. He was part of Namibia’s delegation to the South African Country Districts squash tournament in Limpopo in May 2023.

Endjala grew up in Ongwediva and was employed in the Forensic Investigations Unit of a local financial institution.

Police have confirmed another arrest linked to the incident. The newly apprehended suspect, a security guard employed at NAMDIA, is reportedly a relative of Max Endjala.

Meanwhile, another suspect, also wounded during the robbery, remains hospitalized in stable condition. Police have indicated that two suspects are still at large, but significant progress has been made in identifying all individuals involved in the incident.

At the crime scene, police recovered four firearms and several knives. Two of the firearms were reportedly owned by the suspects, while the other two belonged to NAMDIA employees.

Tributes for the Fallen Chief of Security

The heist also claimed the life of Francis Eiseb, NAMDIA’s former Chief of Security, who was tragically murdered during the incident. Kennedy Hamutenya, former NAMDIA CEO, paid tribute to Eiseb, describing him as a hardworking and dedicated employee who consistently went above and beyond his duties. Hamutenya shared his heartfelt condolences on social media, mourning the loss of a respected colleague.

The investigation into the NAMDIA diamond robbery continues, with law enforcement committed to bringing all perpetrators to justice.
