State Regional Memorial Service Held for Late Founding President Sam Nujoma in Rundu

Rundu – Friends, family, and dignitaries gathered at the Rundu Sport Stadium to pay their final respects to the late Founding President Sam Nujoma at the state regional memorial service.

The solemn event saw the presence of high-ranking officials, including the Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security, Albert Kawana, who also represented the Chief Mourner. Former Swapo Secretary-General Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana and renowned academic Professor Joseph Diescho were also in attendance, paying tribute to Namibia’s first president.

The state regional memorial service serves as an opportunity for Namibians from different regions to honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Sam Nujoma, who played a pivotal role in the country’s liberation struggle and development.

The atmosphere at Rundu Sports Stadium was one of deep reflection and remembrance, as speakers shared heartfelt memories and praised the late leader’s immense contributions to the nation. Citizens from all walks of life expressed their gratitude for his leadership and the role he played in shaping Namibia’s history.

This event is part of the broader national mourning period, with similar services expected to take place in other regions before the final burial arrangements are carried out.
