The Rundu Magistrate’s Court has denied bail to Andreas Hauwanga (31) and Maria Ndadipo (31), who are accused of abandoning their newborn baby in Kakuro village, Kavango West.
The pair appeared in court on Monday, 8 September 2025, where their case was formally postponed to 16 November 2025 for further investigation.
Ndadipo, a nursing student, allegedly gave birth at home on 4 September before the infant was wrapped in plastic, placed in a maize meal sack, and left in the bush. Police confirmed that tissue paper was found in the baby’s mouth, and the remains have since been sent for autopsy.
Ndadipo remains under police guard at Nankudu District Hospital, while Hauwanga is being held at Nkurenkuru Police Station. Police sources indicated that the incident may have been linked to Hauwanga’s attempts to conceal an extramarital affair.
