The SWAPO Party has joined the Walvis Bay community in paying tribute to the late businessman and community leader, John Savva, whose passing has left a deep void in Namibia’s coastal business sector.
Savva, remembered for his unwavering support of economic growth and community development, was a respected figure in both the business and political circles of Walvis Bay. As former president of the Walvis Bay branch of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), he played a pivotal role in promoting local enterprise and cooperation between the private sector and government.
On Wednesday, business leaders, diplomats, and local dignitaries gathered at the Atlantic Hotel to celebrate Savva’s life and contributions. Earlier in the week, residents and community groups held their own memorial, reflecting the broad impact he had across different sectors of society.

The SWAPO Party will host its official tribute on Thursday, recognizing Savva’s long-standing relationship with the party and his efforts to advance community development in alignment with national goals.
A formal memorial service is scheduled for Friday at the Jan Wilken Indoor Complex, where President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, former president Nangolo Mbumba, and SWAPO secretary general Sophia Shaningwa are expected to deliver messages of condolence.
John Savva will be laid to rest on Saturday, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, leadership, and unity within the Walvis Bay community and beyond.
