Warden Simushi, who has represented Katima Mulilo Rural constituency for 15 years and served as chairperson of the Zambezi Regional Council, has lost SWAPO’s internal election.
The announcement was made by the Zambezi regional office of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, confirming that the ruling party will field a new candidate for the November regional elections.
Simushi’s exit ends an era of long-standing leadership in the constituency. SWAPO has not yet disclosed the name of his replacement, but the decision signals a shake-up in the party’s regional structures ahead of a highly contested election period.
