Swapo Khomas Region Concludes Local Authority Candidate List – The Updated World

The Swapo Party in the Khomas Region has finalised its list of candidates set to contest for seats at the City of Windhoek council in the upcoming November regional and local authority elections.

The final line-up was confirmed during an extraordinary party conference held on Thursday at the John Pandeni Constituency office in Soweto. Voting concluded in the early hours of Friday morning, wrapping up at around 02h00.

Swapo Khomas Region Concludes Local Authority Candidate List

Swapo Khomas regional coordinator, Elliot Mbako, confirmed the authenticity of the list, describing the process as transparent and democratic.

Below is the official order of candidates:

  1. Uunona Sakaria – 62 votes (Male)
  2. Amutenya Albertina – 55 votes (Female)
  3. Shoongo Matheus – 59 votes (Male)
  4. Kahungu Fransina – 52 votes (Female)
  5. Beukes Demetreo – 57 votes (Male)
  6. Ambambi Toini – 49 votes (Female)
  7. Kwenani Austin – 56 votes (Male)
  8. Kamati Queen – 49 votes (Female)
  9. Paulus Immanuel – 56 votes (Male)
  10. Angula Nambata – 47 votes (Female)
  11. Inghamba Sam – 55 votes (Male)
  12. Hofni Elizabeth – 47 votes (Female)
  13. Van De Merwe Luis – 52 votes (Male)
  14. Iikela Martha – 43 votes (Female)
  15. Tjàtindi Gabriel – 49 votes (Male)

The candidates are expected to represent Swapo’s agenda in the capital for the next five years, with the top names on the list likely to secure seats depending on the party’s electoral performance.

The November polls are seen as a critical test for Swapo, particularly in Windhoek, where opposition parties have in recent years made significant gains.
