A 16-year-old girl accused of fatally stabbing her 23-year-old boyfriend, Pernadino Cloete, was denied bail in the Okahandja Magistrate’s Court today.
According to police reports, the incident occurred following an alleged argument between the couple, during which the minor reportedly stabbed Cloete with a kitchen knife. Cloete succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Court proceedings were held in-camera due to the accused’s age. Emotional family members from both sides were present as Magistrate Masule Kwizi delivered the ruling. The magistrate rejected the bail application, citing the seriousness of the charge, concerns of possible interference with investigations, and the interests of justice.
The court further confirmed that the accused, who is a mother to a six-month-old baby, will have her child placed in the care of relatives while she remains in custody.
The matter has been postponed to 19 February 2026 to allow further investigations and for the accused to consult and secure private legal representation.
