The Updated World reported a shocking cyberattack that exposed sensitive personal documents of prominent Namibian public figures, including the President and other ministers. The documents were leaked on the dark web by a hacker group, following a ransomware attack on Telecom Namibia.
Although authorities responded swiftly to contain the situation, some damage has already been done. Thousands of personal documents from Telecom Namibia customers, initially provided during the mandatory SIM card registration process, are now circulating on social media platforms.
The breach, attributed to the hacker group Hunters International, compromised over 400,000 sensitive files, including personal and financial details of clients. The attack, which occurred at the start of December, has left the nation reeling as the leaked data continues to resurface on the dark web and various social platforms.
