The Landless People’s Movement (LPM) has filed an urgent application in the High Court against the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN), seeking transparency in the handling of the 2024 National Assembly Elections. The party is raising concerns over alleged irregularities during the voting and counting processes.

Central to the dispute are claims of procedural flaws during the election periods, particularly on November 13, 27, and the extended polling dates of November 28 to 30. The LPM is demanding access to crucial electoral data, including the number of votes cast, spoiled ballots, tendered votes, and the distribution of seats among political parties at each polling station.

The LPM has also questioned the constitutional legality of the extended polling dates, arguing that they may have compromised the integrity of the electoral process. The party aims to clarify the procedures followed by the ECN and ensure accountability.

The matter is scheduled for a hearing in the High Court on December 16, a date that could mark a significant turning point in Namibia’s electoral history.
