
Otjiwarongo – A fatal accident occurred yesterday at approximately 15:56 on the B1 road, about 20 kilometers north of Otjiwarongo.
According to preliminary reports, an SUV traveling from the north lost control after overtaking another vehicle, causing it to overturn multiple times. Two male passengers, identified as Jacob Hamutenya and Abner Kandjimi (31), were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a male, and a 46-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
However, the 46-year-old woman later succumbed to her injuries, raising the death toll to three. The driver remains hospitalized.

Otjozondjupa Regional Police Commissioner Phillip Hidengwa confirmed that one of the victims, Jacob Hamutenya, was a board member of the National Youth Service and had also served on the Namibia Agronomic Board.
Teenager Commits Suicide in Otjiwarongo
In a separate incident, a 15-year-old boy, Fabian Kariue, was found dead at his home in Otjiwarongo after taking his own life.
According to reports, the teenager was left alone at home after refusing to accompany his grandfather and elder sister to town. Upon their return, they found the front burglar door locked. Inside, the boy had used a scarf to hang himself.
Authorities are investigating both incidents, and further details will be provided as they become available.
