Law enforcement authorities are investigating three separate incidents of suicide that were reported over the weekend in the northern regions of Namibia. The cases occurred in the Oshana, Oshikoto, and Omusati regions, and involve both male and female individuals ranging in age from 32 to 68.

The first case was recorded on Friday, 11 July, in the Ehenye area of Onawa, near Ehenye Primary School. According to the police, the body of 32-year-old Tjaupehi Hiskia was discovered hanging from a tree with a torn bedsheet tied around his neck. The scene was initially found by children, who then informed an elder relative. No note was found, and the deceased’s body was transported to the Oshakati Police Mortuary. His next of kin have been notified.

In a separate incident in Oshikoto Region, 67-year-old Jason Teofilus Nghimbinjiki was found dead in the bushes near King-Kauluma village, located in the Nehale Lyampingana Constituency. Police reported that the deceased was discovered with a rope around his neck, and a handwritten note suspected to be a suicide message was found in his possession. His remains were transferred to the Omuthiya Police Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

The third case was reported in the Omusati Region at Okaleke village in the Etayi Constituency. On the evening of 11 July, 68-year-old Enata Frans was discovered hanging in a kitchen storeroom by her daughter upon returning home. Arrangements were made for the body to be taken to the Okahao Police Mortuary for further examination.

Police have confirmed that investigations into all three cases are ongoing. The motive behind the incidents remains unclear at this stage.
