Till her case is done – Hilia Shikongeni have support

Oshakati, Namibia , Hilia Shikongeni, a resident of Oshakati, has garnered significant support from netizens following her arrest for allegedly circulating nude photos of Anna Penavali, a well-known radio presenter from Omulunga Radio. 

Shikongeni was taken into custody on Thursday and appeared in court on Friday, where many who initially condemned her actions began to reconsider their stance. She was granted bail set at N$2,000, with her case postponed to April 2025, allowing her time to secure legal representation and prepare for the birth of her child, as she is five months pregnant.

In a show of solidarity, Facebook user known as “Ndeshi Tile” has emerged to create a whatsapp group to support Shikongeni throughout her legal battle. The group aims to raise financial resources to help her hire a strong lawyer and provide emotional and moral support during this challenging time.
In a recent post, she posted stating:

“Please team up with me in support of this woman to overcome this fight over the abuse of her right to a happy marriage. We will come up with strategies to support her morally, financially, emotionally, and physically. Everybody deserves peace, and we will fight for her peace.”

The post emphasized the importance of creating a WhatsApp group to facilitate communication and coordination among supporters. The group will be managed by Ndeshi and Hilma, who called for mature individuals to join in the effort. 

“There will be a WhatsApp for it. Don’t drop your number here but in my inbox so I can add mature men and women to the group,” the post read. 

In respond of the idea, many have showing positive respond and willing to help her. The campaign seeks to unite supporters in a fight against perceived injustices and to help Shikongeni reclaim her peace of mind. You can find Ndeshi Tile profile here
