Two education officials are facing serious legal battles after being arrested in separate corruption and fraud cases, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has confirmed.
Anna Nuwuseb, a 46-year-old administrative officer at Tobias Hainyeko Primary School, was taken into custody on 6 February 2025 for allegedly accepting bribes to facilitate school admissions. Investigators claim she received payments ranging from N$400 to N$1,000 from community members, amounting to over N$8,250. Following her court appearance, Nuwuseb was granted bail of N$5,000, and her case has been postponed to 17 March 2025 for further investigation.
In a separate case, former Kolin Foundation Secondary School principal Richard Geiseb was arrested on 17 February 2025 over allegations of fraud, theft, and money laundering involving public funds. According to the ACC, an investigation dating back to 2017 revealed that Geiseb allegedly issued cheques to school workers, who then cashed them and distributed the funds among themselves. There are also suspicions that signatures were forged in the process.
The total amount in question is N$320,010.54. Following a case file submission to the Office of the Prosecutor General, Geiseb was formally charged on 5 December 2024. He appeared before the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court on 18 February, where he was granted bail of N$50,000. His case is set to continue on 7 March 2025.
Both cases highlight ongoing efforts by the ACC to tackle corruption within the country.
