Two men were arrested in the ||Karas Region over the weekend after being found in possession of nearly a million Namibian dollars in cash without a clear explanation of its origin.
The suspects, aged 38 and 54, were stopped at a mobile police checkpoint along the B1 highway near Noordoewer on Friday morning. Officers conducting a road safety operation searched the pair and discovered N$500,000 and R225,000 in their possession.
Authorities say the men were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for carrying such a substantial amount of money, raising suspicions about the cash’s source and intended use.
Police investigations are ongoing as law enforcement seeks to determine whether the funds are linked to any criminal activities. The suspects remain in custody while awaiting their court appearance.
More details will be provided as the case unfolds.
