Two court officials in Ondangwa have survived brutal attacks involving gunfire and acid within the span of just two days, raising serious concerns about the safety of public servants in the region.
On Friday morning, a 30-year-old clerk at the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court narrowly escaped death when two masked assailants ambushed her at her residence in Extension 16. The attackers reportedly smashed her vehicle’s driver-side window and fired three shots at her right thigh, leaving one bullet lodged while the other two passed through. They then poured an acidic substance on the victim and inside the car before fleeing. Despite the violent assault, nothing was stolen, and her two cellphones were recovered at the scene. She is currently receiving treatment at Ondangwa Private Hospital.
This incident comes just days after district control and regional court prosecutor Justine Shiweda was hospitalised following a similar early-morning attack at her home. Shiweda was reportedly shot in both legs and doused with acid in front of her children. Preliminary reports suggest a possible personal dispute, though authorities are investigating potential links between the attacks.
Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made yet, and investigations are ongoing. The recent incidents have left the community unsettled and intensified concerns over the security of court personnel in Ondangwa.
