Communities in Kavango West were left in shock after two men from different villages were found dead by suicide last week, with police confirming both cases.
Namibian Police Chief Inspector Raimbert Muronga said the victims, identified as Andreas Kamunyera and Petrus Hamunyera Kauma, were discovered hanging under trees in their respective areas. Neither left behind a suicide note.
Kamunyera, a resident of Nankundu village, reportedly left home on Thursday saying he was going to cut thatch for his hut. When he failed to return, a relative followed his footprints and tragically found him hanging on Friday.
In a separate case, Kauma, who had recently moved to Etenderera village in search of greener pastures, was discovered hanging from a tree on Friday as well. His mother, a resident of Nzinze, expressed deep shock at the news, saying she did not expect such an outcome.
Police say the circumstances leading to the two deaths remain unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
