
Police are investigating two separate incidents of rape reported on Friday, both involving women with intellectual disabilities.
The first case allegedly occurred at Onakankuzi-East village in the Omuthiya Constituency. According to police reports, a 70-year-old Namibian man is accused of sexually assaulting a 32-year-old woman between 07h00 and midday. The suspect remains at large as investigations continue.
Later the same day, at around 21h00, another disturbing case was reported at Iipanda village during a wedding celebration. It is alleged that a 35-year-old Angolan national raped a 22-year-old woman who also has an intellectual disability. Police have confirmed that the suspect in this case has been arrested and will appear in court soon.
Authorities have expressed concern over the vulnerability of individuals with disabilities and urged communities to be vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement immediately.
