Namibia’s representative for Miss International 2025, Uatjiri Mbaisa, has unveiled her national costume for the upcoming 63rd Miss International Pageant an artistic creation that reflects a powerful journey of identity, heritage, and transformation.
Designed as a modern tribute to two of Namibia’s iconic cultures, the OvaHerero and OvaHimba, the costume tells a story of strength, resilience and cultural evolution. It blends distinct elements from both traditions while projecting a vision of continuity into the future.
The bold arms, voluminous skirt and striking headpiece draw influence from contemporary OvaHerero attire, symbolising adaptation, endurance and the community’s historic transformation. In contrast, the belt and body accessories inspired by the OvaHimba highlight ancestral knowledge, resistance and deep spiritual rootedness.
Rendered in earthy tones and layered textures, the ensemble merges traditional craftsmanship with high-fashion couture. A structured silhouette, corseted waist and dramatic train bring together past and present, resulting in a living representation of Namibia’s spirit, creativity and cultural pride.
Mbaisa’s costume stands as both an homage and an evolution an artistic expression of who Namibians were, who they are today, and who they continue to become.
