The Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday postponed the case of a 41-year-old woman and her 26-year-old co-accused facing charges linked to an alleged early child marriage involving a 14-year-old girl.
During their first court appearance, the mother, Aldeltried Mate Likuwa, was released on bail of N$1,000, while her alleged accomplice, Elia Kambinda Chipa, an Angolan national, was denied bail and remains in custody.
The two were arrested on Monday at Ncaute village in Kavango West, following accusations that Likuwa permitted her daughter to be given to Chipa in what is suspected to have been an underage marriage arrangement.
Magistrates postponed the matter to 8 December 2025 to allow police to continue with investigations into the case.
